My Story

Have you ever had that feeling where the path that you’re on has been the culmination of your entire life?

And that everything has been slowly leading you to where you are and that the next step you take is inevitable because of everything that you’ve experienced up until this point has been pointing you towards this direction?

Storia is that for me. So let me give you a glimpse into my past life and my journey to get here.

The Beginning of Storia

Throughout my childhood, I was surrounded by family members who were in the film industry, family members who were musicians, family members who were very artistic and creative.

I also had family members who successfully pursued business and entrepreneurship.

Being able to see the many directions for life probably had a more profound impact on me than I realized.

As a little version of myself I would often create videos directing my uncooperative younger siblings through my various imaginary worlds.

Whether it was Sailor Moon inspired or pretending to be a news anchor, one of my favourite things to do was to create video content, then watch it back.

My younger self was fortunate to have been exposed to theatre and drama throughout my school career which opened my eyes to a different way of expressing artistry.

I pursued my passion through University and ended up earning a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Production where I got it in my head that creativity and artistry wasn’t a direction where you could earn a living.

It wasn’t going to pay the bills, which broke my heart, but put me on a different path that still got me to where I am today.

So instead, I got into real estate and was a Realtor for 7 years.

It’s here where I learned a different side of creativity where the goal wasn’t necessarily artistic, but creativity in solutions, in quick thinking, in deliverables, in tight deadlines.

And while I enjoyed what I did, it was never an exact fit for me.

Something always felt amiss and I could never quite put my finger on it.

After I had my son, I burnt out from real estate (after diving back into work 2 weeks after he was born) and was struggling with figuring out who I was as an individual.

My husband suggested – why not get back into theatre?

So I did!

I jumped into the Simcoe County Theatre Festival in Barrie for the summer where I met some really fantastic people and felt more like myself than I had in years.

I also experienced what I would equate to culture shock as my real estate part of myself clashed with the theatre kid inside of me. This experience opened my eyes more clearly.

I could see what wasn’t working in my life as well as what was.

I needed to find something in my life that could combine the creativity and connection I get from theatre and mesh it with my experience and knowledge in real estate.

Through this process, Storia was born.

The Starting Point

So now, after 7 years in real estate, I am taking the terrifying (but I think necessary) leap to Storia, and pursue a life of happiness and fulfillment for me.

Back to my roots, and back to what I loved since I was a kid.

Creating content.

All of these experiences combined have led me to where I am today where I feel like my skills and connections in both worlds, theatre and real estate, have culminated to this point.

The path couldn’t have been any clearer.

I couldn’t have arrived here any other way.

Not only do I have a creative understanding and a vision for what I want to achieve through videography and photography, but I have grit and a business mindset that I attribute to real estate that I’m very thankful for.

Now more than ever, I feel I can truly bring these different aspects of who I am to what I do and I am excited to share it with you.

I am really proud of what I have built and can’t wait for you to see what I can offer you.
